My Journey

“Shawn has helped me in so many ways. He went completely out of his way to try and help me to continue my dream in college. He is definitely someone in whom I completely trust to follow up on everything he says or does.

At first when I had gotten a phone call from Shawn about possible colleges who were interested in me playing for them, I turned him down. My reason was that I already had school set up and I was scared to change my plans. After a short talk with my family I had decided to call Shawn back. We talked for a while to talk about what I would want and to be notified that there is a big possibility in which I would become a college pitcher somewhere over in Seattle. The night he called me was the night in which my journey had continued to grow; it wasn’t just high school any more and we were taking it to the next level.

As a student-athlete there was quite a bit on the table. Between phone calls, texts, emails, and constantly communicating with these 3 head coaches I was completely drained and confused in what I even wanted anymore. I was beginning to get lost but Shawn was there for that, he was always texting me to see how it was coming along and if I had any questions for him and how I would know my decision was beneficial to me in the long run. Any time I was unsure of what I wanted I would give him a quick call and we would be right on course again. Eventually I began to notice that Shoreline Community College had began to peak my interest and the number one reason is because they had my Dental Hygiene courses in which I needed to complete my actual college degree.

I had set up a meeting/tryout with the head coach of Shoreline in August. After the meeting was over, Brian the coach, had expressed to me that he is amazed with my skill set and that he would be more than happy to welcome me onto his team as their new starting pitcher with about 65% of my tuition paid for. My heart stopped for that minute; I was completely shocked yet overwhelmed, and happy all at the same time! Once I got home I had given Shawn a call to let him know the good news. We talked for a while on the phone and he told me if I was confident with my decision then I needed to respectfully thank the other coaches for their time and interest in me, but let them know I would be signing with Shoreline for the 2014-2015 school year. A week later I got my letter of intent, signed and then sent it in the mail. I became an official college athlete in the blink of an eye.

I used to dream about this and wish so much that I would be where I am at today. I could not have even been given this wonderful opportunity if it wasn’t for the help of Shawn. I cannot truly thank him enough for all the time, energy, and support in which he had put forth to my cause. He didn’t just contact me for his benefits, Shawn got involved in my career through the kindness of his heart and to me that says his is more than just a typical scout; rather one of the best out there if I might say. My life is where it’s at thanks to him and there is no other person in which I hope to continue my college athletics with, it was truly such a blessing to be guided by him.”

To whom it may concern,

Working with Shawn Mosqueda honestly could not have gone better, despite my decision to abstain from moving on to play collegiate softball. Personal reasons, such as focusing on school work, led me to believe that it wouldn’t be the right choice for me to pursue the sport any further at this point in time, although I had many opportunities to do so.

Shawn is truly one of the most hardworking, determined, and kind men I know. Even after he had opened doors to several colleges for me, he continued to expand my options. Deciding not to play was one of the toughest decisions I’ve ever made, but he was completely understanding and still encouraged me throughout the whole process. His support was relentless and did not go unnoticed. I would strongly recommend Shawn Mosqueda as a scout, mentor, and friend to anyone who has a desire to keep playing, working, and pushing themselves as an athlete, and a person in general.

Shawn Mosqueda helped me so much during my junior and senior year in high school in my efforts to playing college basketball. He talked to me regularly on a weekly basis and still to this day keeps in touch to further my education and athleticism onto a university. During our process, Shawn hit a bump in the road with the people he worked with, and any other person that this happened to would have dropped all his athletes out of spite of his ex-company. Not Shawn, he stuck with everyone of his athletes and helped me get 65% of my schooling get paid for through the game I love playing. I would recommend any athlete to him for guidance, support and overall dedication to the future generation. He broke down hours of game film and emailed more than plenty of coaches to where I got at least 5 offers to play in different states.
